How to Avail Financial Assistance of up to ₹50 Lakh under the National Policy for Rare Diseases (NPRD), 2021
The Government of India, under the National Policy for Rare Diseases (NPRD), 2021, provides financial assistance of up to ₹50 lakh per eligible patient for the treatment of notified rare diseases at designated Centres of Excellence (CoEs) across the country. The financial support is provided by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare for eligible patients receiving treatment at these notified Centres of Excellence.
Who is Eligible?
- You have been diagnosed with a rare disease included under the National Policy for Rare Diseases (NPRD).
- Your diagnosis and treatment are confirmed by a designated Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Rare Diseases.
- The Rare Disease Committee at the Centre of Excellence recommends your treatment under the NPRD guidelines.
- Your treatment is to be carried out at a notified Centre of Excellence under the policy.
Financial Assistance
- Financial assistance of up to ₹50,00,000 (Fifty Lakh Rupees) for treatment.
- The funds are released directly to the treating Centre of Excellence, not to the patient or family.
- Assistance covers treatment as approved under the NPRD guidelines and subject to the recommendations of the Centre of Excellence.
