How to Avail Financial Assistance of up to ₹50 Lakh under the National Policy for Rare Diseases (NPRD), 2021

The Government of India, under the National Policy for Rare Diseases (NPRD), 2021, provides financial assistance of up to ₹50 lakh per eligible patient for the treatment of notified rare diseases at designated Centres of Excellence (CoEs) across the country. The financial support is provided by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare for eligible patients receiving treatment at these notified Centres of Excellence.

 

Who is Eligible?

  1. You have been diagnosed with a rare disease included under the National Policy for Rare Diseases (NPRD).
  2. Your diagnosis and treatment are confirmed by a designated Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Rare Diseases.
  3. The Rare Disease Committee at the Centre of Excellence recommends your treatment under the NPRD guidelines.
  4. Your treatment is to be carried out at a notified Centre of Excellence under the policy.

 

 

Financial Assistance

  1. Financial assistance of up to ₹50,00,000 (Fifty Lakh Rupees) for treatment.
  2. The funds are released directly to the treating Centre of Excellence, not to the patient or family.
  3. Assistance covers treatment as approved under the NPRD guidelines and subject to the recommendations of the Centre of Excellence.
